We are seeking an experienced Cost Engineer to enhance our team, ensuring financial efficiency and the economic feasibility of our projects.

Job Summary: The Cost Engineer will play a critical role in managing and controlling project costs from initial estimates to final account settlements. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to forecast costs, analyze financial performance, and optimize project budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost analysis and budgeting for projects, ensuring all potential costs are accounted for and clearly documented.
  • Collaborate with project teams to gather and assess financial information that impacts project costs.
  • Develop and maintain cost databases and cost estimating tools.
  • Monitor project expenditures, compare actual costs to budgeted costs, and report on variances to the management team.
  • Assist in the procurement process by preparing cost estimates and participating in vendor negotiations.
  • Implement cost control strategies and monitor their effectiveness throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide periodic financial reporting and cost forecasts to support project management decision-making.
  • Analyze project profitability, margins, and billing rates.
  • Work with project managers to ensure that projects are completed within their approved budgets.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of changes and manage change orders and claims effectively.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Cost Engineer, Quantity Surveyor, or in a similar role in the construction industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with cost management tools and software (such as MS Excel, CostX, etc.).
  • Understanding of construction, engineering, procurement, and financial management processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present cost data comprehensively to stakeholders.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with an aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Certification such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or similar is preferred.
